Winter Wishes Album- Crate Paper

Hi Everyone, I hope you had a
marvelous Turkey Day if you are here in the States!
We were glorious, both of the kids were here
and we had family and food. What more
could we ask for???

Today I want to share a class project with you.
I taught this last weekend at The Crafty Scrapper
in Waxahachie and it is such a cute little album!!

There are still kits available so contact the store directly
if you would like one. This album is really quick and easy.
You will love it!

I used a Maya Road 9x7 chipboard album for my base.
I love Maya Road albums!!!
I used Crate Paper's Bundled Up line of papers and embellies throughout the book.

The die-cut chipboard from the line is amazing. I adore
thick chipboard!

They have some super cute photo overlays in the line too.
And I have to say, I am so diggin' these non traditional Christmas colors!

How much do you love that chipboard polaroid frame???

More fun chipboard and photo overlays,,,,,

Amazing papers and fun embellies made this album
so easy to put together. It is super sturdy too, because all of the pages are
thick, heavy chipboard. You will want one for yourself, I promise!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.
I have some more fun projects to share this week.
I am finally getting back into the swing of things after my surgery.

Have a great holiday weekend,
and try not to shop too hard!!

May the Flamingos be with you.

Mixed Media Tutorial on Canvas- Frosted Designs

Hi everyone! How is your week so far?
Wonderful I hope!

Today I want to share a tutorial on how I made my
background on this beautiful project below.
I love adding color and texture to my projects and
using the November Mixed Media Kit and the Mixed Media Starter Kit
from Frosted Designs will give you a lot of options.

This is my second project from the November kit and I still have a ton
of pieces left. I feel a third project coming on!

I used the Hexagon Canvas piece from the November kit as my base. I
embellished with lace, roses, buttons, and papers from the kit as well.

Here is how I created my background;

I used a resist embossing technique  for my background.
To start my background I stamped a large pattern with
VersaMark and embossed with clear powder. The embossed areas will
resist the ink when you apply it- it is pretty cool!

I think this technique works best with darker inks, so I used the  Denim and Schoolhouse inks from the kit. To add the color I used the inks from the kit and applied them with wet wipes, rubbing the color into the canvas so that the embossed portions would show, then wiping off any excess color I didn't want.  I applied the Schoolhouse first over the entire piece. Then I added a little bit of denim until
I was happy with the result.

I don't like having a solid edge from my stencils, so I always tape a piece of
scrap paper on the edge so that it feathers off.

After I glued my paper down, I applied gesso through the stencil and let it dry.
Once dry you can pile on the embellies to your hearts content!

How cute are those little buttons!!!!???? The mini roses are from the November Kit
and I added a few more from my stash.

The sentiment was trimmed from the journal block sheet included in the kit.
I added some seam binding here as well.

I wanted some dimension to the project so I used foam tape on
several pieces.

So there you have it- this is a really fun technique, that is not too messy!
Be sure to give it a try and let me know what you think.

May The Flamingos be with you :o)

Multi Canvas Mixed Media Project - Frosted Designs

Hi everyone in blogdom :)
I am just back in town and getting caught up,
I promise I will hop around to all of your blogs
in the next day or so! Thank you for all your lovely comments!!

Today I have a project to share using the fabulous
November Mixed Media Kit from Frosted Designs.

This kit is fabulous!!

I am so in love with this layout! The papers and embellishments
from the kit are just amazing. I don't use a black background
very often, but I thought it would really set these colors off!
To create my backgound I cut the papers from the Nov Kit into random strips, inked
them and layered them under the large center mat.

For my photos I used three mini canvases and inked them with
the Mixed Media inks from the kit. For this larger canvas I
added the lace and small flowers from the kit to embellish it.

The two smaller canvases have just enough room for the photos!
The tags are embellished using the stencil and ink from the kit.
(See below)

Are these chippie hearts amazing or what? I added paper flowers
and the rhinestones from the kit to my cluster as well.

To color my tags, I applied the ink directly from the ink pad
through the stencil on the NON SLICK side.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
I have more projects going up this week so be sure to stop back in!

Christmas Layout - SNS

Hi everyone in blogland!
Are you counting the days until the Black Friday sales?
I am so happy to report that I am finished with my Christmas shopping!
It is a lot easier now that the kids are grown, I admit.

I am not a chronological scrapbooker, I scrap whatever photo I feel like picking up.
So these days I am working on some very old photos from when my girls were very little!

My papers for this project are from Bo Bunny.
I also used some Maya Road, Spellbinders, EK Success punch, Prima, and a
bunch of stuff from my stash.

I used my Cricut E2 and Sticker paper to create this embellishment, then burnished with Sonic Silver GL.
My flowers were accented by coating with Brushable Glue and Crystal Ice GL.

The chipboard pieces were painted with white acrylic, while wet I sprinkled with Starfire GL.

These small roses, and the others like them on my project are from I Am Roses
they have some awesome flowers!

For this photo frame and the red punched border along the bottom of the page, I applied Tear-ific-Tape to my cardstock, die cut the image, removed the backing paper and then burnished with my glitter.
Easy peasy! For complete instructions on the project, see my gallery

I am linking up at the following challenges;
4 Crafty Chics - Snowflakes
I Am Roses - 2 flowers (the red and white small roses)

Dream - Sparkle N Sprinkle and Cranberry ramblings

Good morning fellow bloggers!
Who can believe that we are only a couple of weeks away from
Thanksgiving??? Not me for sure. I have not even
bought a Turkey!! I need to get on that.
And some cranberries. I need some cranberries. I checked my freezer and
I am down to one lonely bag of cranberries.
I LOVE CRANBERRIES.
I eat them all year long. Muffins, Tarts. Scones. mmmmmm, cranberries.
So I always buy a whole case of them in the fall and
freeze them. Does anyone want a fabulous recipe for cranberry
sauce? Not the jelly stuff, but wonderful whole
cranberries with orange? Here you go;

The best Cranberry Sauce ever, I promise
1 lb fresh cranberries

1 fresh orange
1 cup sugar

Wash the cranberries and pick out any bad ones.
Peel the orange, then separate the sections. You want to cut the little pieces
of membrane off each section as best you can.
Chop the orange sections and put them along with any juice in a medium
sized heavy pan. Add the berries and the sugar.
Put over medium heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Turn the heat up to med high, keep cooking until the whole thing
starts to boil and the berries pop open. Boil for 1-2 more minutes, stirring.
You don't need every berry to pop open, so don't stress over it!
I let it cool a few minutes in the pan, then pour it into my serving dish.
It will thicken up as it cools down.Keep it in the fridge.
This is also great poured over brie or creamed cheese.
It will keep for WEEKS in a glass jar in the fridge. Just saying.

Ok, so who wants to see my layout now :)
Or should we just go get lunch. Who is hungry?

My paper is Graphic 45, I used Flourishes Two stamp set for my background stamping around the photo.
To get the lovely layer of sparkle around my photo I applied 1/2" Tear-ific-Tape to my mat, then burnished it with Moon Rise Tinsel Glitter. For the flowers I applied 2 1/2" Tear-ific-Tape to my cardstock then cut with a Sizzix die. I applied different glitters for the top and bottom layers.
For the lattice piece here and the title, I die cut Sticker paper using my Cricut E2, removed the paper backing and applied my glitter. The chipboard stars were heat embossed with Velvet Sparkle EP.
Here is a closer look at the stamping. I used VersaMark and EP then heat embossed. The butterfly was made using the same technique as the flowers.
